German

Deutsch wird auf den Niveaustufen A1.1 bis C1.1 vermittelt. Im Mittelpunkt steht dabei die Vorbereitung auf einen studienbezogenen Aufenthalt an einer Universität. Neben der allgemeinen Sprachvermittlung liegt der Schwerpunkt insbesondere auf den sprachlichen Kompetenzen des wissenschaftlichen Schreibens, der mündlichen und schriftlichen Kommunikation im universitären und beruflichen Alltag sowie auf dem mündlichen Präsentieren in wissenschaftlichen Kontexten.

    • A1 - A2 Basic language use

      German as a foreign language A1.1

      Without prior knowledge

      Course description

      Learning objectives
      Students will be able to demonstrate elementary German language skills. Students can grasp slowly and clearly articulated concrete information on familiar everyday topics and understand simple and short texts syntactically, semantically, lexically, and morphologically while reading. When focusing on key words, they can deduce the meanings of unfamiliar terms from the context. They can express themselves about their environment using simple phrases and respond appropriately to simple questions.

      Contents
      Contents of the language learning course include:
      - Very simple texts and audios on everyday situations, especially in the university environment;
      - Elementary oral and written text production and interaction;
      - Development of relevant reading and listening strategies;
      - Development of simple grammatical structures and appropriate vocabulary;
      - Exercises in different forms and with different media.
      Only German as a Foreign Language can be chosen for this module.

      Teaching and learning methods
      4 SWS language course, including self-study.
      Courses must be selected from the catalogue of courses on the TU Dresden Language Center website, as specified; this catalogue will be announced at the beginning of each semester in the usual manner.

      Requirements for participation
      No knowledge is required.

      Usability
      This language learning course can be credited as a module in the study regulations of the respective degree program and is a prerequisite for level A1.2.

      Requirements for the award of credit points
      Language test(s) of 60 minutes. The credit points are acquired when the test(s) are passed.

      Credit points and grades
      - Graded language certificate upon passing the language test
      - f credited as a language learning course, 5 credit points are earned, unless the academic regulations (“Studienordnung”) stipulate otherwise. The module grade corresponds to the grade achieved on the language test(s).

      Frequency of language learning course
      The language learning course is offered every semester.

      Workload
      The total workload is 150 hours, of which 60 hours are for classroom teaching and exam preparation, and 90 hours are for self-study, including exam preparation.

      Duration of the language learning course
      The language learning course lasts one semester.

      Limited prior knowledge

      Course description

      Students will be able to demonstrate elementary language skills at level A1.2 in German. Students can grasp slowly and clearly articulated concrete information on familiar everyday topics and understand simple and short texts syntactically, semantically, lexically, and morphologically while reading. When focusing on key words, they can deduce the meanings of unfamiliar terms from the context. They can express themselves about their environment using simple phrases and respond appropriately to simple questions.

      Contents of the language learning course in a foreign language of the student’s choice include:
      Very simple texts and audio texts on everyday situations, especially in the university environment; Elementary oral and written text production and interaction on this topic; Development of relevant reading and listening strategies; Development of simple grammatical structures and appropriate vocabulary; Exercises in different forms and with different media. Only German as a Foreign Language can be chosen for this module.

      Teaching and learning methods
      4 SWS language courses and self-study.
      The courses must be selected from the A1.2 language course catalogue offered by TU Dresden, as specified; this catalogue will be announced at the beginning of each semester in the usual manner.
