FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

  • What should I bring with me on the day of the exam?

You must present a valid photo ID before the start of the exam and have it with you / open on the table for the entire day of the exam.

Pencils, erasers, etc. will be provided by us.

Please bring as little as possible to the exam! You can lock your bags, jackets, and cell phones in a room. There is only limited space for this. Please note: TUDIAS accepts no liability for items you bring with you - not even for locked items. From the beginning to the end of the exam, you may not access any items that are locked away - especially not your cell phone.

You may consume any food and drink you have brought with you during the examination, provided that this does not disrupt the examination process or endanger examination safety. The final decision on this is at the discretion of the test administration staff. Water is generally provided free of charge.

  • Can I bring my cell phone?

In accordance with the examination regulations, you are not allowed to access your cell phone from the beginning to the end of the examination, not even during breaks. Any use of your cell phone or other devices with a photo/storage function will be considered an attempt to cheat. You will be excluded from the examination without warning if you fail to comply. If this is the case, your results will not be evaluated.

  • What happens if I am late for the exam?

If you arrive late - for whatever reason and from the very first minute - you may be excluded from the exam. You should therefore be on site at least 30 minutes before the exam starts. Once the instruction has begun, participation is no longer permitted according to the telc examination regulations. Please be there at the beginning even if you are only taking the oral examination. For organizational reasons, either the oral or the written exam may take place first. In addition, you must be present at the instruction at the beginning according to the telc examination regulations and enter your personal data in the answer sheet.

  • Can an accompanying person be with me?

You are welcome to be accompanied to the examination. However, for reasons of examination security and data protection, accompanying persons must leave the examination building by the start of the examination at the latest.

  • Can I get credit for individual parts of the exam that I have passed?

You can only have “written” and “oral” parts of the exam that you have already passed credited as a whole - i.e. not just part of the written exam, for example. The passed examination may not be more than one calendar year before the examination date and must have been taken in exactly the same examination format as the subsequent examination (e.g. only B1 to B1 and not B1 performance from a DTZ examination for a normal B1 examination). In the case of scaled examinations (e.g. B1-B2 nursing or B2-C1 medicine), crediting is not possible.

In order to have the credit transferred free of charge, we need your participant number for the part of the exam you passed. Please bring the results sheet with you for us to copy so that we can answer any queries from the telc administrative offices and also rule out any typing errors. This information must be available to us on the day of the exam, otherwise we cannot guarantee free processing.

  • What happens if I am ill on the day of the exam?

If you are absent from the exam due to illness, please provide us with a medical certificate by the first working day (usually Monday) after the exam. We can only reduce the examination fee by 50 euros if you submit a medical certificate in good time.

You can scan the certificate and send it to us by e-mail to telc@tudias.de. It is best to reply to the e-mail booking confirmation so that we can easily identify you.

In all other cases, we cannot grant a discount, as telc will also charge us the full registration and exam material fees.

  • How can I cancel my registration?

Cancellation free of charge is only possible up to 30 days before the exam according to the telc examination regulations. After that, the full examination fee will be charged unless you present a medical note of illness (see above).

If you do not show up on the day of the exam, you will receive an invoice for the full exam fee. If you do not pay this invoice within one week, we will unfortunately have to send you a reminder, which may incur considerable costs.

If you are unable to pay the invoice, please contact us before the payment deadline expires.

  • How long does the correction take and how do I get the results?

We will send the examination documents to telc immediately after the examination. The evaluation takes place at telc headquarters. As soon as we receive the result sheets and certificates back, we will forward them to you by post - usually within one working day.

For logistical reasons, you cannot collect certificates in person.

In our experience, you will usually receive the results after six to eight weeks.

We have no influence on the processing time on the part of telc, and therefore we will not respond to inquiries about the examination status.

  • Can I apply for an express correction?

There are currently no options for express corrections at telc.
